Many millions of people in Germany are insured with the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK). Although the cash register should actually be doing well economically, the premiums will be increased in early 2016. The largest health insurance company will do this in the form of additional contributions. Insured persons have the option of changing the fund in order to avoid a higher contribution rate.
The health insurance contributions are increasing again. The long-predicted increase was only recently confirmed by Federal Minister of Health Hermann Gröhe. Now the largest health insurance company in Germany has announced that it will increase the additional contribution from next year.
TK wants to stay below average
Just a few weeks ago, the TK reported in a press release: “At Techniker Krankenkasse, the budget planning for 2016 is currently underway, which also includes the calculation of the individual additional contribution. We aim to remain below average. The Board of Directors will make the decision on December 11, 2015. ”Baas now explained in the RP:“ We are currently taking 0.8 percent. And we're working hard to stay below the new industry average. ”
The employer's share could be increased again
According to the Ministry of Health, the average additional contribution that employees have to pay alone will increase from 0.9 to 1.1 percent next year, and the average total contribution from 15.5 to 15.7 percent. The TK boss expects the legislator to also increase the employer's share, which is currently frozen at 7.3 percent. “It is not realistic that in the long run the workers alone will finance the cost increase. This discussion will pick up speed at the latest in 2017, the year of the federal election, ”said Baas. (ad)
